Former Chesapeake & Ohio Railway 4-8-4 #614 is working the Chessie Steam Special excursion from Huntington to Hinton, West Virginia. These were the famous "New River Trips" operated during 1980 and 1981 by 614. This scene frame by a tree in the fall of 1981, shows 614 accelerating eastward after a passenger stop in St. Albans, West Virginia. 614 would make one final grand showing on this line in January of 1985 hauling coal trains for a solid month. Owner Ross Rowland recently offered the engine for auction, after it spent a couple of falls operating excursions in New Jersey in the late 1990's.
