Doubleheaded Class 24 (2-8-4's) operate a Knysna to George special passenger train in July 1984 on the grade from sealevel at Knysna to Belvidere. These classy 2-8-4's were always sporting polished brass boiler bands, and ornaments, and were immaculatly clean. Some of these engines still operate from the George area, for special trains, as well as some freight opeations. The line skirts the Indian Ocean in some areas.
